Candidates take three papers: Reasoning (60 minutes, computer-based), Mathematics (60 minutes), and English (60 minutes). Some candidates may also be invited for an interview based on exam performance.

Reasoning
This is a computer-based test lasting 60 minutes, including time for practice questions. It assesses verbal, non-verbal, and numerical reasoning.

Mathematics
The test begins with a short number-based section followed by a 50-minute paper that includes both multiple-choice and written response questions. Calculators are not allowed. Content reflects the national curriculum and includes number work, shape and space, measurement, coordinates, graphs, and some basic logic and probability.

English
This paper includes a reading comprehension followed by a related writing task. It assesses skills such as structure, punctuation, creativity, inference, narrative flow, and understanding of language.

Interview
Interviews are held for candidates being considered for scholarships, those near the borderline for entry, or those applying for bursary support.
