JAGS uses the ISEB Common Pre-test, which are online, adaptive and multiple-choice admissions tests as below:

• English (40 minutes) – Tests reading comprehension and grammar, assessing retrieval of information, ability to make inferences and summarise, explanation of meaning through word choice in context and making comparisons, in addition to understanding of vocabulary, punctuation, grammar and spelling.
• Maths (40 minutes) – Tests knowledge of mathematics topics from the National Curriculum until the end of Year 5, including number and place value, calculations, fractions/decimals/percentages, measurement, geometry and statistics, as well as fluency in arithmetic problem solving.
• Verbal Reasoning (25 minutes) – Tests comprehension, reasoning and logic, focusing on letter, word and language-based questions and identifying problem solving techniques, trial and error skills, working logically and recognising suitable solutions.
• Non-Verbal Reasoning (45 minutes) – Tests logic, critical thinking and problem-solving skills using figures and diagrams, including questions about non-verbal reasoning (analysing 2D figures and diagrams for patterns) and spatial reasoning (visualising 3D figures and diagrams).

There is also the interview, creative writing task and interactive group task as a part of the Welcome Morning.
