Woldingham School is an independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18 in Surrey. The 700-acre site set in the countryside cares for approximately 580 students. The school was founded in 1842 by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat at the Convent of the Sacred Heart.

The school’s motto is “Woldingham – where girls thrive” and their ethos is “to provide an outstanding education that empowers women to change the world”.

They offer a wide selection of facilities. For example, science laboratories, art studios, classrooms, all-weather pitches, a sports hall, courts, a dance studio, and a 25m indoor pool. Additionally, they have a range of co-curricular activities including archery, badminton, cross country, football, golf, and gymnastics to name a few.

As for results, more than 66% of GCSE grades were 9-7. and 73% of A Level grades were A* to B with 16 students achieving at least three A Levels at grade A or A*. Some of the schools Sixth Form leavers headed off to included St Andrews, Oxford, Birmingham, Durham, SOAS, and Bristol. 

In June 2023, during a re-inspection compliance report, the ISI reported that the school now met its standards. The school also received the Indepdendent Schools of the Year Award for Effective Brand Communication in 2022.

Admissions information for 2024 entry to Woldingham School at 11 Plus (11+)

Assessment day is at Woldingham School or your child’s current school if they are able to host it. On the assessment day, your child will sit an exam (11+ ISEB test) and an interview. A school reference from your daughter’s current school will also be requested before the assessment day.

Bursaries are on offer for girls’ “whose family’s financial circumstances would otherwise make attending Woldingham School impossible.”. The process for bursaries involves submitting a registration form and tick interest in receiving information about bursaries, receiving details about the bursary application process from the school, submitting the bursary application before the October deadline, and receiving an award decision letter by post in January 2024.

At 11+ level the following scholarships are on offer: Academic, Art, Drama, Music, Performing Arts, Sport, and ‘Local Girl’ (means tested scholarship for a pupil at a local, maintained primary school). Academic scholarships are based on assessment results. You must return scholarship forms to the Admissions Department by the October deadline. Auditions are in mid-January 2024 and decisions are sent out by email at the start of February 2024.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exams at Woldingham School?

You must have already submitted a registration fee of £150 by the same deadline as the online registration form.

The registration form would have been found through the school’s website.

However, it is important to note that registration for 2024 entry has now closed, it closed at the end of September 2023.

What is the entrance 11 Plus (11+) exam format at Woldingham School?

Candidates applying for 2024 entry to Year 7 at Woldingham School will sit the Independent Schools Examination Board (ISEB) Common Pre-Test which is an online test assessing the following areas:

  • English – assesses Key Stage 2 (KS2) English national curriculum.
  • Maths – assesses Key Stage 2 (KS2) maths national curriculum.
  • Verbal reasoning – word-based problem-solving.
  • Non-verbal reasoning – visual-based problem-solving.
