Applications for Year 7 entry into Wallington County Grammar school will be made available on their website from the start of May until the start of August 2024. They will host an open event in July which you are not required to book a space to attend.

Both of Wallington County Grammar School’s entrance exams will be held in the autumn term of 2024 and they will consist of two stages; your child must pass Stage 1 in order to be invited to participate in Stage 2.

However, your child will not necessarily secure a place if they make it onto the ranking list following these two entrance exams; you must submit a Common Application Form (CAF) listing ‘Wallington County Grammar School’ in your preferences before the end of October 2024 and wait to hear back the results on National Offer Day in March 2025.

You will have until mid-March 2025 to accept the offer otherwise you will forfeit your child’s place at Wallington County Grammar School.

How can I register my child for the 11 11 Plus (11+) exam at Wallington County Grammar School?

To register your child for the entrance exams, you as their parent/legal guardian must complete the Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which will be made available in May 2024 on Wallington County Grammar School’s website. On your child’s Common Application Form (CAF) which is issued by your home local authority, you must write down ‘Wallington County Grammar School’ and submit the CAF by the end of October 2024.

It is important to note that the Published Admission Number (PAN), the number of places available for Year 7 entry, is 150.

In addition, in the case of oversubscription, priority will be given to applicants in the following order:

  • Looked After, or previously Looked After, children
  • Children of permanent staff
  • Children in rank order of performance in the SET & second stage entrance tests
  • Pupil Premium (PP) students
  • Children living in Sutton postcodes

What is the 11 Plus (11+) entrance exam format for Wallington County Grammar School?

The exam format is divided into two stages:

Stage 1: Selective Eligibility Test (SET)

The SET is comprised of two 45-minute multiple-choice tests:

  • Maths
  • English

If students pass the SET test, Wallington County Grammar School will invite them to return to the school for the Second Stage Test.

Stage 2: Second Stage Test

The Second Stage Test is comprised of two standard written format tests (no multiple-choice options):

  • Maths
  • English – the child will be given a prompt for a writing task

The total score for the entrance test is calculated by adding the Second Stage Test marks to half of the aggregate SET marks, where each part has equal weighting. The school then creates ranked lists from these total scores.
