Admissions information for 2027 entry to Urmston Grammar School at 11 Plus (11+)

Urmston Grammar School is one of five schools in the Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium, alongside Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Sale Grammar School, Stretford Grammar School and Urmston Grammar School. Trafford has seven grammar schools, not five. Loreto Grammar School and St Ambrose College are the other two and they set a different test on a different day. If either is on your list, you need to register for that test separately.

You register with the school, not the council, and registering is not applying for a place. You must also name Urmston Grammar School on the Common Application Form submitted to your home local authority by 31 October 2026. Each consortium school sets its own qualifying score, so the same result can qualify at one school and not at another.

The Trafford consortium confirmed its partnership with GL Assessment for this test. It is two papers, each about an hour long, and the subjects are blended rather than split one per paper:

• Verbal skills. Word choice, vocabulary, how words relate to each other, and verbal comprehension.
• Non-verbal skills. Shape and pattern relationships, sequences and spatial reasoning.
• Mathematics. Key Stage 2 content applied to problem solving.
