About Tiffin School

Tiffin School is a boys’ grammar school with specialist status in the performing arts and languages for 11 to 18-year-olds in Kingston. The school, which was established in 1880, currently nurtures over 1,400 students and has a co-educational sixth form. Its history extends as far back as the 15th century, when the two Tiffin brothers left money in their wills, starting a domino effect of money being donated until eventually a school was formed over two hundred years later.

Today, Tiffin students have access to impressive facilities including a sports centre, MUGA, and a theatre. In addition, the school has on offer a wide selection of extracurricular activities including musical ensembles, art groups, sports teams, public speaking, and drama club. They also use a house system with eight houses competing in events that all students get involved in throughout the school year.

Their impressive academic performance is reflected in their 2022 results with around 84% of GCSEs results being grade 9-7 and 91% of A Levels being A*-B. In their most recent report, Ofsted graded Tiffin to be an all-around ‘Good’ school.

Admissions information for 2027 entry to Tiffin school at 11 Plus (11+)

You must submit an online Supplementary Information Form (SIF) through Tiffin’s website for the Stage 1 test. This will be made available from early June till early September 2026. The first part of the exam, the Stage 1 Test (‘sifting test’), will be held in early October and Tiffin school will decide following this exam the number of boys they will invite to the Stage 2 Test.

If your child is not selected for Stage 2 testing, you will be notified by Tiffin School around the 15th October 2026. This allows enough time to make a decision when submitting your Common Application Form (CAF) to your local home authority, which must be done before the end of October.

The Stage 2 Test will be held in November and candidates will be informed of this date closer to the time.

Your child will find out if they have been successfully admitted into Tiffin School on National School Offer Day which falls at the start of March 2027.

There is a priority system in place which gives priority to candidates in the following order:

  • Children with an education, health and care plan (EHCP)
  • Children with a combined score that is higher than or equal to the 400th ranked mark of all applicants who sat the Stage 2 Test, with specific priority given to looked after, or previously looked after, children within the Priority Area and children whose primary school receives pupil premium funding in respect of them and whose permanent residence is within the Priority Area
  • Children whose permanent residence is within the Priority Area (in rank order of the combined score)
  • Children whose permanent residence is outside the Priority Area.

It is also important to note that the Priority Area is less than 10 km from Tiffin School and that the Published Admission Number (PAN), the number of places available for Year 7 entry, is 180.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exam at Tiffin School?

To register your child for the entrance exam, you as their parent/legal guardian must complete an online registration form (SIF) through the Tiffin School website for the Stage 1 Test before early September 2026.
