Streatham & Clapham High School is an independent day school for girls aged 3 to 18 in south west London, part of the Girls’ Day School Trust. It runs across two sites, and Year 7 is the principal point of entry into the senior school.

Admissions information for 2027 entry to Streatham & Clapham High School at 11 Plus (11+)

Streatham & Clapham takes what it calls a holistic view. The ISEB assessment is one input alongside school reports and references, and the school reviews every application in its own context. There is no single pass mark published.

Applications are welcomed from both maintained primary schools and independent preparatory schools. Scholarships are available in academic subjects and in art, design and technology, drama, music and sport, with a separate and earlier deadline than the main registration.

Note the ordering: the group activity and creative writing task come in mid-November, before the ISEB assessment date at the school in early December.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exams at Streatham & Clapham High School?

What is the 11 Plus (11+) entrance exam format for Streatham & Clapham High School?

The assessment has three parts:

• An interactive group observation activity in mid-November, built around a theme. The school uses this instead of a formal interview, on the basis that it shows evidence-based thinking and collaboration better than an interview does.
• A 25-minute creative writing task, sat on the same day and developing the same theme as the group activity.

The link between the group activity and the writing task is worth knowing: your daughter writes about the theme she has just discussed, so the two are not independent exercises.

• Practise timed creative writing at 25 minutes. It is short, and planning quickly matters more than writing at length.
• Prepare for the ISEB Pre-Test as an adaptive test: questions get harder as your daughter gets them right, so a wide comfortable range matters more than one hard topic.
• Do not prepare for a formal interview. The school uses a group activity instead, and talking with other children is the skill on show.
• Diarise the bursary deadline separately. It falls after registration but before the assessments.
• Ask your daughter’s current school whether it administers the ISEB test, since sitting it there is the school’s preferred route.
