St Mary’s School Ascot 11 Plus (11+) Exam Guide

St Mary’s School Ascot is an independent Roman Catholic boarding school for girls. There are a total of 380 pupils, with around 40 places available each year for 11+ entry. St Mary’s is a full boarding school, with only around 15 day boarders a year. As a Catholic school, St Mary’s has a resident Chaplain and gathers the entire school for morning prayers each day. It holds the Catholic ethos at the heart of everyday life. 

Girls at St Mary’s are encouraged to pursue a range of academic subjects and activities, form life-long friendships and build a strong sense of self-confidence. Since St Mary’s is a full boarding school, with the only day boarders being girls who live locally, girls are given the support and opportunities they need both after the work day has ended and at the weekends as well.

The school supports the academic strengths of its students with regular pupil-led events, groups and trips, as well as an Inspirational Women lecture series and an Academy that runs programs on independent research. Many of these programs are organized outside of the classroom so that girls have the opportunity to pursue their interests and passions in their own time, and a large number are student-led to encourage independence within a supportive environment.
