St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar School is a Roman Catholic selective grammar school for over 800 students aged 11-18 in Slough. The school’s history dates back to 1897 when a group of Bernardine Cistercian Sisters were forced to flee to the UK from France with the interest of establishing a school; although it was not till the 1940s that the school officially became St Bernard’s school as it is known today.

The school has on offer a wide selection of great facilities including a dance studio, sports hall, and large school halls as well as courts for tennis, netball, and basketball. In addition, they have a rich co-curricular programme including art, drama, music, and sports clubs. Moreover, they run annual trips to locations such as Italy, France, New York, and Spain to further expand students’ learning.

St Bernard’s ethos is built on the core Christian values of compassion, forgiveness, and love; their goal is to welcome new students into a spiritual life founded on worship and prayer. An aspect of this mission is service to others which the school engages in through their involvement with several Catholic charities and organisations.

Ofsted, in their most recent inspection of the school, reported it to be ‘outstanding’, describing the school as a safe space where students are ‘very mature and considerate’ and the teaching is ‘of a very high quality’. In 2022, the school also achieved some great results with 77% of students being awarded grades 9-7 in English and Maths at GCSE Level and 42% of students being awarded A*-A grades at A Level.
