About Forest School

Forest School is a co-educational independent day school in Snaresbrook, north east London, on the edge of Epping Forest.

At 11+, approximately 120 external places are available each September, forming eight Year 7 classes alongside children moving up from the school’s own Prep.

Admissions information for 2027 entry to Forest School at 11 Plus (11+)

Selection has three parts weighed together: the entrance assessment, an interview and a reference from your child’s current school. With roughly 120 external places, Forest has one of the larger independent 11+ intakes in London, which is worth knowing when you weigh the odds against smaller schools.

The assessment itself is genuinely two tests in one morning: a multi-subject digital test and a separate written English paper. Children who practise only on screen, or only on paper, arrive half-prepared.

Interviews follow in the week of 18 January 2027, and offers are emailed on 11 February 2027 with a 10am, 5 March acceptance deadline.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exams at Forest School?

1. Register online by midday on Wednesday 18 November 2026. The fee is £180.
2. Your child sits the assessment on Thursday 17 December 2026: the digital test (1 hour 10 minutes) and the 30-minute written English paper.
3. Use the school’s own familiarisation exercise beforehand so the on-screen format is not a surprise.

What is the 11 Plus (11+) entrance exam format for Forest School?

Part one is a digital test provided by Quest Assessments, lasting 1 hour 10 minutes and covering five areas:

• Mathematics.
• English.
• Verbal reasoning.
• Non-verbal reasoning.
• Puzzles and problem solving.

Part two is a 30-minute written English assessment on paper, sat the same day. That split matters: the digital test rewards quick, accurate multiple-choice work on screen, while the written paper rewards handwriting, structure and ideas. Prepare for both.

• Practise on screen and on paper. The digital test and the written English paper are different skills.
• Cover all five digital areas, including puzzles and problem solving, which most 11+ practice skips.
• Keep up regular writing through the autumn for the 30-minute English paper.
