About Emanuel School

Emanuel School in Battersea is unusual in treating 10+ as a front-door entry point, not a side gate: Year 6 (10+), Year 7 (11+) and sixth form are its three main ways in, and the 10+ intake is a full 48 pupils in two forms of 24, the youngest year group in the school.

Registration closes at midday on Friday 16 October 2026, and the assessment day is Saturday 28 November: written maths and English, plus a short adaptive verbal reasoning test on screen. Unusually, the interview stage isn’t a narrow shortlist; a high proportion of candidates are invited in for an interview and a group activity built to show creative and team skills.

Know the one-shot rule before results day: a child who is offered a 10+ place and turns it down cannot re-register for Emanuel’s 11+ the following year, while a child who was simply unsuccessful can try again at 11+ with no penalty. Offers arrive by post on 11 February 2027 and by email the next day, with acceptance due by midday on 3 March.

What is the 10 Plus (10+) assessment format at Emanuel School?

Three assessed elements: a 45-minute maths paper, a one-hour English paper, and 20 minutes of adaptive verbal reasoning taken online at the school. The written papers carry the bulk of the time and deserve the bulk of the practice; the VR test is short, adaptive, and more about word knowledge and quick logic than anything crammable.

The follow-up group experience is deliberately creative and collaborative. There’s nothing to revise; children used to making things and solving problems with others walk into it already fluent.
