Admissions information for 2024 entry to City of London School for Girls at 11 Plus (11+)

The next open event will be held in June 2023 and you must complete an online form via their website to register your interest in attending this event.

Applications for Year 7 entry will open in the Summer term for both UK and International students so it is important you keep an eye out on their website for the opening of their registration portal.

You must complete your child’s application form for the entrance exams between the summer term when they are in Year 5 and the end of October when they are in Year 6.

The test is composed of two stages; your child must pass the Stage 1 test to progress onto the Stage 2 test and be interviewed. Applications for bursaries must also be completed at this time.

Offers will be sent out by email in mid-February and an offer holders meeting will be held before the deadline to answer any final questions you may have about the school. You must accept the unconditional offer by the early March deadline as well as submit a £3,200 deposit, unless your child is a bursary student.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exam at City of London School for Girls?

To register your child for the entrance exams, you will need to complete an online registration form on their website via their ‘11+ Admissions’ page within the ‘Admissions’ section. It is vital that you register your child within the opening-closing dates otherwise they will not be able to sit the entrance exams to be admitted into the school.

For scholarships, these are based on ‘outstanding merit and promise’ and at 11+ only music scholarships are available. To be eligible for a scholarship, your daughter must have a handle of two instruments and have a minimum of grade 6 in both (in exceptional circumstances the second instrument can be lower). Details of their music achievements, involvement in group music, and a video of audition pieces on both instruments will be requested before shortlisted candidates are then invited to an audition and interview at the school in January 2024.

For bursaries, registration will be made available in 2023 summer term, following which you will be sent an online bursary application form to fill out; the deadline for submitting this secondary form will fall around November 2023. If following your daughter’s first assessment, she is invited to a second assessment/interview, you will hear from the school the initial outcome of your bursary assessment.

If the school approves your eligibility, they will request supporting documents and in some cases, a home visit from a member of the school’s pastoral team. Bursary offers will be sent out via email; there are roughly 12-15 bursary places available for 11+ entry.
