Caistor offers 96 Year 7 places, and its oversubscription rules give geography real weight: after looked-after children, priority goes to children living within 6.5 miles of the school in a straight line, measured by Lincolnshire County Council to three decimal places, with ties inside that group broken by the higher verbal reasoning score. Up to 12 places are then reserved for Pupil Premium children, and remaining places go to the highest scorers wherever they live.

So a strong score from outside the 6.5-mile circle competes for fewer places than the raw numbers suggest, and a qualifying in-catchment child can be offered a place ahead of a higher scorer from further away. Worth knowing before you commit to the drive.

The qualifying standard is the county-wide 220 combined across the two papers, aimed at the top quarter of the ability range. A child who sits and does not qualify cannot resit for that year group, and the original result stands as far as Year 9 admissions.

What is the 11 Plus (11+) entrance exam format for Caistor Grammar School?
