About Bromley High School

Bromley High School is an independent school day school for girls aged 4-18, located in Bickley, Greater London. This school is a proud member of the Girls’ Day School Trust and is committed to fostering ‘a love of learning which enables girls to fulfil their intellectual potential’. [1]

In 2023, 80% of all A Level results were graded A*-B, and 72% of all GCSE examinations were awarded a 9-7 grade. [2]

The Bromley High School curriculum is broad, with inspirational teachers nurturing intellectual curiosity and independent thinking. In Year 7, all pupils study art, classical civilisation, computer science, dance, design technology, drama, English, geography, history, Latin, maths, music, modern foreign languages, philosophy, PE and science. Alongside their academic reputation, Bromley High School offers a variety of extra and co-curricular opportunities. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves with new experiences, concentrating on developing their skills beyond the classroom. Admissions information for 2027 entry to Bromley High School at 11 Plus (11+)

The school strongly recommends that prospective students and their parents attend one of their taster days. Their next 11+ taster day is on Wednesday 14 October 2026, from 10.50am to 3pm. You can book and find out more information about this event on the Bromley High School website. Please ensure you book this event early, as places tend to fill up quickly.

This will allow you and your child to familiarise yourselves with the facilities, meet the staff, and ensure Bromley High School is the right choice for you. 

Bromley High School is an academically selective school, and there are usually only 60 Year 7 places available for external applicants. The entrance exam for Year 7 2027 entry will be held on Saturday 21 November 2026.

How can I register my child for the 11 Plus (11+) exams at Bromley High School?

To register your child for Bromley High School, you should complete the online application form by Friday 23 October 2026, which can be found here. 

On this form, you will need to provide your personal details and information about your daughter’s educational background. Entry is competitive, so the school recommends applying early. 

A non-refundable application fee of £150 (£240 for overseas candidates) is payable when you submit this form. 

All candidates sitting the 11+ entrance exam are considered for academic scholarships, which go to the girls who perform best in the assessments. The school also offers art, drama, music, sport and Young Leaders awards in Year 7, and the closing date for Year 7 scholarships is Friday 23 October 2026, the same day as the application deadline. Scholarship assessments are held in the weeks commencing 11 and 18 January 2027. 

A small number of bursaries are available and are awarded based on a girl’s performance in the entrance test and interview. All bursaries are means-tested, and the value of bursaries is related to the financial situation of the applicant’s family.

What is the entrance 11 Plus (11+) exam format at Bromley High School?

Candidates applying for 2027 entry to Year 7 at Bromley High School will take an entrance exam on Saturday 21 November 2026. 

The entrance exam will consist of papers that are non-subject specific and aim to test a child’s academic potential. These tests assess:

  • Verbal reasoning: This subject assesses your child’s language-based problem-solving abilities by testing their vocabulary, spelling, arithmetic, and pattern recognition skills. Your child will need a broad vocabulary and a good understanding of word definitions in and out of context to do well in this exam.
  • Non-verbal reasoning: This subject assesses your child’s ability to analyse visual information and solve problems using visuals like shapes and diagrams.
  • Spatial reasoning: Sometimes referred to as spatial ability, this test assesses how well candidates can transform visual images in their minds.
  • Quantitative reasoning: Children are assessed on their ability to think and solve problems using numbers. 

Alongside these standardised tests, candidates also sit:

  • a short creative writing paper
  • a brief mathematics extension exercise
